Following the devastation in the capital of Haiti, I am urging you to help provide much-needed relief to the people of Haiti.
3 million people – one-third of Haiti’s population – were affected by the quake. Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, is plagued by hunger and political instability. This disaster will drastically increase the needs of families who had little to lose in the first place.
Organizations have made it easier than ever to give; now it’s important that we do our part. I know that people across America are struggling amidst what we consider tough economic times but the people of Haiti are experiencing much worse – a small donation can make a significant impact.
Donations to most organizations for this cause are tax deductible. There are several ways to give:
- Log onto International Child Care's website to make a donation to Grace Children's Hospital in Port Au Prince.
- Make a financial or supply donation to Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees. Contributions can be mailed to 418 West 145th Street, New York NY 10031. For more information call Ninaj Raoul at 718-735-4660.
